How to resize a signature for an online form
- Sign on plain white paper with a black pen (blue is accepted by a few forms). Sign larger than usual; it will be shrunk.
- Photograph it in daylight, holding the phone straight above the paper so there is no shadow.
- Choose the photo above. Keep Cut empty margins and Make background pure white switched on.
- Set the limits from your form, for example Min 10 KB and Max 20 KB, and the size under Dimensions & DPI if one is given.
- Download the JPG and upload it in the signature field.
What the clean-up does
A phone photo of paper is never truly white. It has a grey or yellow tint, uneven light and a shadow from your hand. Those tones waste bytes and can make the signature look faint once it is compressed. The resizer measures how bright the paper is in each part of the photo, turns the paper into pure white, and slightly darkens the ink, so the strokes stay crisp even at 10 KB. Because the paper level is measured locally, a shadow across one corner is cleaned as well as the bright centre.
It then finds the edges of your signature and cuts away the empty paper around it, leaving a small margin. Forms that ask for a fixed size such as 140×60 pixels then show your signature large and readable instead of as a tiny line in the middle of a white box. Small specks of dust are ignored, so they do not stretch the crop.

RRB: why 30–49 KB
RRB sets an unusually high minimum. A clean 140×60 signature is only a few KB, so it would be rejected as too small. Set Min 30 and Max 49 here: the tool keeps more pixels, and if the signature still falls short it adds padding inside the file to reach 30 KB without changing how the signature looks. RRB also rejects signatures written in block or capital letters.
UPSC: three signatures in one image
UPSC asks you to sign three times, one below the other, and upload all three as a single image between 350 and 500 pixels in each direction. Leave a finger's gap between the signatures, photograph the whole block, keep the clean-up options on, and use the UPSC 400×400 preset with Max 100 KB and Min 20 KB. Choose Fit inside, white border if the block is taller than it is wide, so nothing is cut off.
Thumb impression and handwritten declaration
IBPS and SBI forms ask for two more scanned documents besides the photo and signature:
- Left thumb impression: 20–50 KB, 240×240 px at 200 DPI (3×3 cm), black or blue ink on white paper. Press firmly once, without smudging. Use the Thumb preset above with Max 50 and Min 20.
- Handwritten declaration: 50–100 KB, 800×400 px at 200 DPI (10×5 cm), in English, in your own handwriting, black ink, not in capitals. Copy the exact wording printed in your notification; SBI's version also includes your date of birth. Resize it on the 100 KB compressor, which has a declaration preset.
Why signatures get rejected
- Capital letters. IBPS, SBI and RRB notices say a signature in capitals is not accepted. Sign the way you sign a cheque.
- Grey or coloured background. Lined notebook paper or a shadow makes the signature hard to verify. The clean-up fixes the tone, but plain paper gives the best result.
- Signature too small. A short signature lost in a big white area looks like a dot after resizing. Keep Cut empty margins on.
- Wrong file. Uploading the photo in the signature box, or a thumb impression where a signature is asked, is a common mistake on long forms.
- Different from the exam day. Your signature is compared with the one you sign at the centre. Use your normal signature.
Photo and signature together
Most forms ask for both. Resize your photo with the photo resizer in KB or the 50 KB resizer, then come back here for the signature.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize my signature to 20 KB?
Sign on white paper, take a clear photo, choose it above and keep Max size at 20 KB. The tool whitens the paper, cuts the empty margins and saves a JPG under 20 KB.
What size should a signature be for bank exams?
The 2026 IBPS and SBI notifications ask for 140×60 pixels and 10 KB to 20 KB. Tap the Bank exams 140×60 preset under Dimensions and keep Min 10, Max 20.
How do I make the UPSC signature with three signatures?
Sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, and photograph all three together as one image. Set Max 100 KB, Min 20 KB, and a square size such as 400×400 px, which is inside the 350–500 px range UPSC allows.
Why was my signature rejected even though it was under the limit?
Common reasons are a grey or shadowed background, a signature that is too small inside a large white area, or capital letters where the form asks for a running signature. Turn on both clean-up options and sign larger on the paper.
Can I resize my left thumb impression here?
Yes. For IBPS and SBI, tap the Thumb 240×240 preset, which sets 200 DPI, and use 20–50 KB. The clean-up options keep the ridges dark on a white background.
Can I sign on my phone screen instead of paper?
Exam notices ask for a signature on white paper, scanned or photographed. A finger-drawn signature may be rejected at verification, so use paper unless your form says otherwise.
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. All processing happens in your browser. Your signature image is never sent to a server.
